To reap the benefits of Planly's Facebook Analytics, you first need to understand each metric. This guide will explain the definition of each of Facebook Analytics metrics. To make things much easier, will we go through tabs and related metrics underneath each tab.
Please keep in mind the definitions we give to metrics can be slightly different than how Meta defines them in the GraphAPI doc. Considering the familiarity of users with the terms, we made slight differences in the naming to keep features less technical. Now, time to see the definitions.
Overview tab metrics
In general, the purpose of the Overview tab is to give how your Facebook page is performing in terms of impressions, engagement, page likes, and more. Please keep in
Page likes | Total number of Facebook users who liked your page. Meta defines this metric as Page fans. |
Impressions | Total number of times any content from your page or about your page was seen by a Facebook user. This includes organic and paid posts, stories, and content about your page. |
Page engagements | Total number of times Facebook users engaged with your posts through reactions, comments, shares, and more |
Page views | Total number of times your Page (not content from your page) has been viewed by logged-in and logged-out Facebook users. |
Page video views | Total number of times your page videos played |
First 30s | Total number of times your page videos were played for at least 30 seconds or for nearly their total length if they are shorter than 30 seconds |
First 10s | Total number of times your page videos were played for at least 10 seconds or for nearly their total length if they are shorter than 10 seconds |
Page consumptions | Total number of times people clicked on any of your content |
Page post reactions | Daily total reactions to your posts |
Page reactions by type | Daily total reactions of your posts by the type of reactions |
Page likes by sources | Total page likes by sources of origin |
Location clicks by audience types |
Total number of Facebook logged-in users who clicked the Get Directions button by their age and gender |
Website clicks |
Total Facebook logged-in users who clicked the Go to website CTA button |
Audience tab metrics
The purpose of Audience tab is to give a broad spectrum of your audience insights in terms of their locations, age and gender, and their Facebook usage habits.
Audience by age | Total number of likes of your page by the fans' gender and age insights |
Top countries | Countries with the most people who like your page |
Top cities | Cities with the most people who like your page |
Fans' online activity |
The most active hours of your Facebook fans during the week time |
Posts tab metrics
In the Posts tab, you can gain insights into how each of your posts performed based on the key metrics at the given time.
Likes | Total number of people who likes your page and engaged with your post |
Clicks |
Total number of people who clicked on your posts |
Impressions | Total number of times your posts have been viewed by people. The posts include links, statuses, images, videos, stories, and more |
Total reactions | Total reactions your post received |
Average video view time | The average time people viewed your video. This returns 0 for reshared videos. |
